ISSUP Kenya has entered into talks with Kenyatta University through Department of Psychology, to explore potential for partnership in the delivery of mutual objectives, programs and activities. Present during the meeting held on 17th December 2020 at the KU administrative complex: Dr. Eunice Githae-Chair Department of Psychology, Dr. Pamela Kaithuru-ISSUP Kenya), Evans Oloo-President ISSUP Kenya & Dr. Beatrice Kathungu-KU/ISSUP amongst other faculty members.

The Annual General Meeting for ISSUP Kenya, which is mandated by law for all societies and constituted our national conference, was held today, online. There was a good turn out and several resolutions were made which will be ratified by the executive committee before being announced to the broader membership.

ISSUP Kenya in partnership with the PCEA graduated the first cohort of trainees on basic UTC course: a total of 30 participants. The ceremony at the Kikuyu mission hospital was graced by the Governor of Kiambu County, His Excellency James Nyoro, In coming SG of the PCEA, Rev. Dr. Waihenya,The CEO Kikuyu hospital Dr. P.Kimpiatu. Other officials present included Rev. Dr. W. Kogo, ISSUP Kenya Executive Dr. Richard Gakunju & Vice president ISSUP Kenya Ms. Susan Gitau.

ISSUP Kenya was pleased to participate in this years World Mental Health Day in partnership with Chiromo Mental Hospital and APA Insurance Company. Over 100 participants joined the webinar on Substance Use Disorders: Role of family & colleagues in the workplace. 

Today marked the graduation of the inaugural ISSUP-Kenya/PCEA training cohort for UTC. It was moderated by our very own Deputy President, Mwalimu Susan Gitau, and our patron Dr. Richard Gakunju with guest of honour being Governor of Kiambu County, Eng Nyoro. They’ll be sitting the exams soon. Today was presentation of certificates of course completion. Well done to them, and all the best for the exams. (They were a delight to train with)👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Today saw the end of the UTC training by ISSUP-Kenya for the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) which started in October 2019 for the members and staff of this faith-based organisation. Originally meant to end in June 2020 this cohort's training was disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

آئی ایس ایس یو پی کینیا آئی ایس ایس یو پی گلوبل کے اشتراک سے آپ کو ایک ویبینار میں شرکت کی دعوت دیتا ہے جس میں مادہ کے استعمال کی خرابیوں کی روک تھام اور علاج پر کوویڈ 19 وبائی امراض کے اثرات پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا ہے۔ ویبینار جمعہ 15 مئی 2020 کو نیروبی کے وقت کے مطابق شام 4 بجے پیش کیا جائے گا۔

آئی ایس ایس یو پی کینیا کی جانب سے میں نے وزارت صحت کی مینٹل ہیلتھ ٹاسک فورس کو اپنا میمورنڈم پیش کیا۔ یہ ٹاسک فورس، جو  جمہوریہ کینیا کے صدر کی سربراہی میں کابینہ کی ہدایت کے بعد قائم کی گئی تھی، ملک میں ذہنی صحت کی حالت کے بارے میں چیلنجوں اور حل کے بارے میں عوامی رائے جمع کرنا چاہتی ہے۔ ایک پیشہ ور انہ جسم کی حیثیت سے ہم نے مادہ کے استعمال کی خرابیوں کو ذہنی صحت کے مسئلے کے طور پر علاج کرنے کی وکالت کی نہ کہ صرف ایک سلامتی یا اخلاقی  مسئلہ کے طور پر.

آئی ایس ایس یو پی کینیا کی ایگزیکٹو کمیٹی نے گزشتہ سال کی کامیابیوں اور چیلنجوں کا جائزہ لینے کے لئے سال کے آغاز میں اجلاس کیا اور ساتھ ہی 2020 کے لئے سرگرمیوں کی منصوبہ بندی کی۔
