The Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs (VNGOC) together with the UNODC Civil Society Unit (CSU) held a webinar on 10th March 2021 discussing the International Standards on Drug Use Prevention. The webinar included opening remarks from Mirella Dummar-Frahi from the CSU and Jamie Bridge from the VNGOC, a presentation by UNODC expert Giovanna Campello on the International Standards on Drug Use Prevention, two civil society panellists (Dayana Joseph from Fourth Wave Foundation and Eric Siervo from CADCA), and an open Q&A session.

Adverse Childhood Experiences are traumatic circumstances or events that occur during childhood. Research that has examined ACEs has pointed to the link between these traumatic events in childhood and the increased risk of negative physical and mental health outcomes throughout the life course. Additionally, there has been research to suggest that children who have been exposed to trauma may be at greater risk of developing problems, such as alcohol and drug use, later on in life.

European Drug Prevention Prize 2021

The Pompidou Group calls for youth projects to submit applications for the 2021 edition of the European Drug Prevention Prize.

The Prevention Prize is awarded to highlight outstanding drug prevention projects that have proved successful in involving young people in their design, implementation and evaluation.

Up to three projects will be awarded a Prize. During the Award Ceremony, each will receive the Prize Trophy, the Prize Diploma and €5.000 to support implementation. Prize-winners tell us that winning the Prize has helped them gain greater recognition for their work.
