Introduction: alcohol consumption during pregnancy (CADE) is recommended, which produces physical, cognitive and behavioral problems in the mother and fetus, so it is recommended to abstinence from this substance during pregnancy; however, factors present in adolescents may be related to the onset or continuation of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.

Objective: to identify the prevalence and factors related to alcohol consumption in pregnant adolescents (AS) through a systematic review.

Las consultas de pacientes hospitalizados por enfermedades gastrointestinales (GI) y hepáticas relacionadas con el alcohol han aumentado desde el comienzo de la pandemia de COVID-19 y se han mantenido elevadas, según una investigación seleccionada para su presentación en Digestive Disease Week® ( DDW) 2021.

La proporción de pacientes que requirieron intervenciones endoscópicas hospitalarias por sus enfermedades gastrointestinales y hepáticas relacionadas con el alcohol también ha aumentado, lo que destaca una aparente tendencia al empeoramiento en la gravedad de la enfermedad.

No safe dose of alcohol for the brain was found. Moderate consumption is
associated with more widespread adverse effects on the brain than previously recognised.
Individuals who binge drink or with high blood pressure and may be more susceptible. Detrimental effects of drinking appear to be greater than other modifiable factors. Current ‘low risk’ drinking guidelines should be
revisited to take account of brain effects.
