World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilising efforts in support of mental health.
The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
The theme selected for this year’s Day is suicide prevention.

In August 2019, ISSUP and its National Chapters in Latin America were invited to take part in the XX Meeting of the Drug Demand Reduction Expert Group in Colombia. The three day meeting was organised by the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) and brought together experts from more than 20 Caribbean and Latin American countries.

At the end of last month, ISSUP's Deputy Director, Livia Edegger attended the 4th Annual ICUDDR Conference in Cusco, Peru. The conference was kicked off on Sunday, July 21st with welcome speeches by university representatives, government officials and international organisations and included the presentation of the Cusco Declaration on Substance Use and Treatment.
