Cerebrovascular disease due to cannabis use, UTC for healthcare professionals

Jose Luis Vazquez Martinez - 3 May 2020

There is a link between smoking cannabis and developing arteriopathies (Desbois, 2013) and cerebrovascular disease (Wolff, 2013). Recent reports document cases of young cannabis-smokers with cerebrovascular disease, in whom the proposed underlying mechanism would be intimal hyperplasia (Ntlholang, 2015).

Harm was divided into the following three categories: mental health harm, somatic harm, and physical harm. The authors found that marijuana use, particularly frequent and heavy use, was associated with increased harms in each of the three categories with mental health...

Although cannabis use disorder (CUD) is one of the most common substance use disorders (SUDs), the impact of CUD on the brain remains unclear and understudied.

In a recent article, published in Addiction journal, researchers from the University of Amsterdam and Ludwig Maximilan University have brought together the existing research on the relationship between heavy cannabis use, cannabis use disorder (CUD) and the brain.
