The European Society of Prevention Research (EUSPR) 2021 conference took place online from the 29th of September to the 1st of October.

The theme of the conference, which was chosen to encourage presenters to comment on the impact of COVID 19 on prevention research and practice, was ‘challenges of planning and implementing prevention approaches in the new normality’.

The Annual Meeting will be held on March 2-5 2022, and is currently scheduled to take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Center in Edinburgh, Scotland.  

The SRNT 2022 Annual Meeting may be a hybrid (part in person, part virtual) or entirely virtual, depending on how things play out in the coming months. A final decision about the meeting format (face-to-face hybrid virtual component vs. entirely virtual) will not be made for some time. Research from the University of Exeter has highlighted how childhood trauma can make individuals more sensitive to the pleasurable and motivational effects of opioids and less sensitive to the negative consequence of the drugs.

The research, which has been published in the journal of Addiction Biology, aimed to assess the impact of childhood trauma on responses to morphine and pain processing.
