The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is looking for a project coordinator for the “Global Partnership on Drug Policies and Development (GPDPD)” project.

The Project Coordinator will serve as a liaison officer between GPDPD, its international partners and the MFLF as well as other Thai counterparts.

The Project Coordinator is part of a global team with operations in Berlin, Bonn, Bangkok, Bogotá, Tirana and Yangon. The Project Coordinator will be placed at the premises of GIZ Bangkok but will also be working regularly at the office of MFLF.

There is a vacant position in the Department for Sociology and Geography for a Postdoctoral Fellow.

The position is funded by the Research Council of Norway and is dedicated to the newly established research centre PROMENTA in which the Department of Sociology and Human Geography will participate with the project Drug Policy Reform.

We will investigate questions related to the development of international drug policy, new knowledge regimes, drug user careers, social marginalization and the possible consequences of decriminalization of the use and possession of drugs. We will also monitor new patterns of alcohol and drug use among adolescents, associated sociocultural aspects and identities, and new models of prevention and sanctioning by the police and the court system. 

Adfam is a partner in a new project in Swindon to improve identification of alcohol dependent parents and their children, increase referrals to alcohol treatment and increase the numbers of children and families accessing support.

We wish to recruit a Family Support Co-ordinator to work within the project delivery team in Swindon. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of experience and skills in community development, managing volunteers, training, and in engaging with and supporting families.

Project: Developing and evaluating a new pathway to smoking cessation: preventing early lapse using cognitive-behavioural techniques to promote long term abstinence.

Project aims are:

(1) review the literature on cognitive-behavioural lapse prevention interventions or techniques;

(2) identify effectiveness and key factors in the use of lapse prevention techniques through secondary analysis;

(3) design a lapse prevention intervention and undertake a pilot evaluation study

(4) undergo research skills training, personal and career development.

The development lead will maintain and actively share expertise in relation to the links between smoking and inequality, and ensure delivery and further development of associated elements of the organisation’s work-plan.

The Global Drug Policy Program (GDPP) of the Open Society Foundations seeks to shift the policy paradigm on illicit drugs from today’s punitive approach to one rooted in human rights, sustainable development, and public health.

The Program Officer is a pivotal role at Open Society. The role has responsibility for engaging with fields of interest to OSF, developing appropriate strategies and tools for fostering desired social change, while also developing and managing relationships with other entities including potential and current grantees.  The Program Officer works collaboratively both within OSF and with external entities whose goals are aligned with the Global Drug Policy Program.

The University of Bristol have an exciting opportunity for a researcher to work on a new three-year project (EPoCH) within the MRC Integrative Epidemiology unit (MRC IEU) at the University of Bristol, one of the leading centres for epidemiology in the UK.

The EPoCH study explores causality and mechanisms in the complex associations between parental prenatal health behaviours (smoking, drinking alcohol, physical activity, caffeine, high fat, high sugar diet) and childhood health across several domains including adiposity and neurodevelopment.

We are seeking a research associate with substantial experience with qualitative research methods to undertake research into the role of alcohol consumption within football cultures.

Duties will include survey and other research design, primary data collection, data analysis and interpretation of findings, the writing of high-quality academic papers, and impact-focused work with external stakeholders.

This role will involve developing a project focusing on the brain mechanisms leading to drug addiction and compulsive behaviours.

A research team of the Psychological Science Research Institute (IPSY, UCLouvain), is seeking a post-doctoral researcher for a project related to the social neuroscience of addictive disorders. 

This project will explore the brain correlates of dehumanization (the feeling of being treated by others as less than a human) in alcohol-related disorders. In this project, the reseacher will explore, using neuroimaging tools (fMRI), dehumanization processes from the victim’s point of view. An outline of the global project can be obtained upon request. Glasgow Caledonian University is looking for a researcher who would like to join their vibrant team. The researcher will work in close collaboration with and under the supervision of Professor Lawrie Elliott and Professor Carol Emslie on the evaluation of the impact of Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) among Homeless People. MUP is a Scottish Government policy that aims to reduce the harm from alcohol.
