Changes in Alcohol Consumption Pattern Based on Gender during COVID-19 Confinement in Spain. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 18(15), 8028. doi:10.3390/ijerph18158028
Abstract
The goal of this study was to analyze the prevalence and pattern of alcohol consumption (frequency of consumption, average daily consumption, and risky consumption) before and during confinement due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the adult population and based on gender.
Methods: Data from 3779 individuals were collected via a set of online surveys. The AUDIT alcohol consumption questions (AUDIT-C) were used to measure the frequency of consumption, the average daily consumption, intensive consumption, risky consumption, and standard drink units.
People who inject drugs (PWID) are a key population for the elimination of hepatitis C in Europe, and increasing their access to HCV testing and care is a goal in European and national hepatitis C policies. Despite this, HCV testing remains low among people who inject drugs and effective approaches to promote testing as the first element of a cascade of care are particularly needed.
EMCDDA has put together a toolkit to increase access to testing and care in drug services.
In 2020,1339 drug-related deaths were registered in Scotland.
This is a 5% increase compared to figures from 2019.
Other key findings show:
The number of drug-related deaths has increased substantially over the last 20 years – there were 4½ times as many deaths in 2020 compared with 2000.
Men were 2.7 times as likely to have a drug-related death than women, after adjusting for age.
After adjusting for age, people in the most deprived parts of the country were 18 times as likely to die from a drug-related death as those in the least deprived.

Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children...
