Treatment of Co-Occurring Traumatic Stress and Substance Use Problems Among Adolescents: State of the Science and Future Directions

In this presentation, Dr Carla Danielson will:

1) Provide a brief overview of the overlap between trauma (particularly child maltreatment) and substance use, theoretical models linking these, and the critical importance of integrated approaches to treatment for these problems;

2) Note the challenges that have impeded progress in integrated approaches;

3) Review the state of the science in integrated approaches to treatment;

4) Describe future directions in this area of clinical research and practice.
