Empowering Youth Leaders in Guatemala: Launch of the “Prevention Agents” Programme

ISSUP Guatemala, in collaboration with Glasswing International, has officially launched the “Prevention Agents”programme, an initiative designed to train and strengthen young community leaders who are committed to promoting the prevention of social risks.

The programme aims to equip youth with the knowledge, skills, and leadership tools needed to address key social challenges affecting their communities, including organized crime, substance use, delinquency, and life on the streets. Throughout 2026, participants will engage in educational, cultural, recreational, and leadership activities implemented in institutes and universities, fostering positive community engagement and resilience among young people.

The opening ceremony brought together key representatives and partners who will support the programme’s implementation. Welcome remarks were provided by Waleska Rodas, Director of ISSUP Guatemala and COPRAES; Bárbara Correa, ISSUP Regional Coordinator for National Chapters in Latin America and Spain; Pamela Girón, representative of Glasswing International Guatemala; Erasmo León, programme trainer; as well as representatives of youth leaders, community members, and the Municipality of Puerto Barrios.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of ISSUP Guatemala and Glasswing International to empower young people as agents of change in their communities. By strengthening youth leadership and promoting prevention-focused actions, the programme contributes to building safer and healthier environments for future generations.

We celebrate the launch of this important initiative and are proud to collaborate with Glasswing International in Guatemala to support and empower young community leaders.
