In this presentation, Dr Carla Danielson will:
1) Provide a brief overview of the overlap between trauma (particularly child maltreatment) and substance use, theoretical models linking these, and the critical importance of integrated approaches to treatment for these problems;
2) Note the challenges that have impeded progress in integrated approaches;
In mental health care, incorporating into daily practice the vision of inclusion, empowerment and non-stigmatization towards people who are treated due to their mental health conditions enhances their recovery and development as citizens in their lives.
