An introduction to Universal Curricula

The Universal Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Curriculum provide training programmes for those wishing to develop their professional knowledge, skills and competence in addressing substance use services to individuals and their families.

UPC, UTC and URC have been developed by teams of international experts in the field. The materials are written, piloted and are being used for training by addiction professionals in the field.

The UC development is funded by Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and are endorsed by or are of special interest to major international organizations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Organization of American States (OAS/CICAD), the European Drugs Agency (EUDA).

UC have been developed on evidence-based principles. They are written in response to the demand for up-to-date and well-researched training programmes in the fields of prevention and treatment. Both the curricula provide professional development training material to cover the breadth of issues within the prevention, treatment and recovery support fields for those professionals addressing the issues that drugs and associated crime cause.
