ISSUP El Salvador launches “The ISSUP Week” to mark the second anniversary of its National Chapter

ISSUP El Salvador has officially launched “The ISSUP Week”, an event organised to commemorate the second anniversary of its National Chapter, bringing together key stakeholders from academia, government, and community sectors committed to addressing substance use.

The opening ceremony featured distinguished authorities, including Patricio Alfaro Rugliancich, Vice Rector of the Universidad Salvadoreña Alberto Masferrer; Dr. Christian Aparicio, National Director of Higher Education; Eduardo Loyola Argüello, Executive Director of the National Anti-Drug Commission (CNA); and José Miguel Esperanza Amaya, Director of Educational Management and Director of the ISSUP El Salvador National Chapter. Bárbara Correa, ISSUP Regional Coordinator for National Chapters in Latin America and Spain, also delivered welcome remarks virtually.

The event will take place from Tuesday, April 21 to Friday, April 24, featuring an agenda that includes professionals from various faith-based organisations participating in the “National Meeting of Faith-Based Organizations and the Church’s Response to Drug Use”, promoting the exchange of experiences and best practices.

In addition, the ISSUP El Salvador National Youth Network will play an active role throughout the week, leading activities focused on youth engagement in prevention, highlighting the importance of young people as key agents in building healthier, safer, and more resilient communities.
