The International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP- Nigeria), Cross River State Branch, conducted a high-impact street awareness campaign across Calabar to intensify efforts against illicit drug use in the state.
The campaign, held along major routes of the recently concluded 2025 Calabar Carnival, was executed in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The initiative aimed to educate residents and visitors on the dangers of substance abuse while providing access to evidence-based prevention, treatment, and recovery support services.
Speaking during the campaign, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Randolph, reaffirmed ISSUP’s commitment to keeping Cross River State drug-free through community engagement and access to global best practices in substance use prevention and treatment. Assistant State Coordinator, Mr. Monday Anake, highlighted the group’s grassroots strategy, which includes outreach to schools, markets, churches, and transport unions using local languages and Pidgin English to ensure wider reach and impact.
The campaign concluded with a call on young people to resist peer pressure and embrace a substance-free lifestyle, reinforcing ISSUP’s dedication to promoting a safe, healthy, and vibrant society.
