Uganda Launches National Youth Crime Report (2017–2024)

UYDEL, in partnership with the UNODC Kampala Office, has officially launched the Youth Crime Report at the Protea Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of juvenile and youth crime in the country, with particular focus on trends observed between 2017 and 2024.

Developed in response to Uganda’s growing youth population, the report offers data-driven insights to support policymakers, development partners, and other stakeholders in planning, prevention, and targeted youth-focused interventions. Its findings shed light on emerging patterns, risk factors, and priority areas requiring urgent action to strengthen crime prevention efforts and youth development initiatives nationwide.

During the launch, Dr. Rogers Kasirye (ISSUP Uganda Director) and Mr. Rogers Mutaawe highlighted the African Union Plan of Action on Drug Control and Crime Prevention (2026–2030), noting Uganda’s strong performance in addressing drug abuse and crime. They highlighted the need for sustained collaboration and investment to build on these achievements.

Congratulations to UYDEL (ISSUP Uganda), UNODC Kampala, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda, and all partners whose contributions made this important report possible.

The Youth Crime Report represents a significant milestone toward evidence-informed decision-making and the creation of safer, more supportive communities for Uganda’s young people.
