The alumni event organised by UYDEL (ISSUP Uganda), with support from the UNODC Kampala Office and the Netherlands Embassy in Uganda, became a powerful showcase of resilience, restoration, and renewed purpose.
“I overcame substance use, left crime behind, and transformed my life.” – Female Alumna
One alumna shared how UYDEL’s consistent guidance helped her break free from substance use and criminal involvement. Today, she stands as a Peace Ambassador, mentoring other young women and offering skills training in her own hairdressing salon. Through her work, she is not only rebuilding her life but also lighting a path for others seeking a second chance.
Another alumnus reflected on his transformative journey:
“I changed from crime, gained skills at UYDEL, and became an artisan from 2015 to 2019. I moved on to work with Kampala Capital City Authority, started a workshop in Nateete, and now I am proud to work at Delta TV.”
These testimonies beautifully illustrate the power of empowerment; how structured mentorship, vocational skills, and psychosocial support can restore dignity and open doors to new futures.
UYDEL continues to nurture a generation of skilled, responsible, and inspired young leaders, strengthening families and communities across Uganda.
