ISSUP Kenya Engages Stakeholders at the Pathways to Progress Summit

ISSUP KENYA was honoured to participate in the Pathways to Progress Summit, held on 29th January 2026 at Parklands Baptist Church, bringing together practitioners, civil society, faith leaders, and community stakeholders in substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Dr. Pamela Kaithuru, President of ISSUP Kenya, represented the Chapter at the Summit and delivered key reflections on the importance of professionalism, ethical standards, and evidence-based practice. She emphasized continuous learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, and encouraged stakeholders to take advantage of the free ISSUP professional development courses and learning opportunities available to practitioners.

The Summit was also attended by ISSUP Kenya leadership and members, who actively participated in discussions and engagements, reflecting the Chapter’s collective commitment to strengthening prevention, treatment, and recovery responses. Among those present were: Mr. Sammy Ombisa, ISSUP Kenya Secretary, who spoke on behalf of Fahari Wellness & Life Coaching  and Miss Nkatha Mwenda, PR & Media Chair, who represented Graceful Youth Recovery Centre CBO.

We appreciate the host and partners, including Project 1:11 The 1:11 Project Africa and Virtue US International, for convening the Pathways to Progress Success Summit and creating a valuable platform for dialogue, collaboration, and shared learning.

ISSUP Kenya remains committed to advancing professional standards, accessible learning, and collaboration in strengthening responses to substance use and mental health challenges in Kenya and beyond.
