The Sports Wellness Summit 2026: Echoes of Resilience (Ubuntu)
The Youth Initiative Development Programme (YIDP), Triple I Foundation and ISSUP Kenya Chapter will convene the second edition of the Sports Wellness Summit at Cloud Hotel & Suites in Nairobi, Kenya.
Under the theme “Echoes of Resilience (Ubuntu): Forging Mental Wellness Pathways in African Sports,” the two-day, in-person summit will bring together approximately 500 stakeholders to strengthen athlete wellbeing and support the development of safe, healthy and mentally resilient sports ecosystems across Africa.
The summit will contribute to preparations for AFCON 2027 by promoting safe sport, mental wellbeing, integrated athlete care, innovation and policy development.
The summit aims to:
- Promote athlete mental health and holistic wellbeing;
- Advance safe sport and safeguarding across sports systems;
- Strengthen integrated athlete care through multidisciplinary collaboration;
- Support gender equality and the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence in sport; and
- Foster innovation, research, investment and partnerships for sustainable sports development.
Key thematic pillars
Discussions and activities will be organised around five pillars:
- Resilient Athletes and Positive Masculinities
- Girls, Women and Safe Sport Leadership
- Integrated Athlete Care Pathways
- Governance, Integrity and Sustainable Sports Systems
- FutureFit Sports: Innovation, AI and Digital Transformation
The programme will include athlete journeys, plenary sessions, panel discussions, practical workshops, summit tracks, networking opportunities, a resource showcase and discussions on financing athlete wellbeing and community impact.
Expected outputs include action blueprints, policy recommendations, enhanced capacity, strategic partnerships, a research agenda and stronger involvement of athletes in shaping future systems.
